Year 9: Make Your Mark

We asked current Year 9 students towards the end of Year 8 last year, what they wanted to achieve in Year 9. Our video correlates with our Year 9 cohorts theme for the year: Make Your Mark.

As a year group, we are encouraged to constantly strive to achieve our best in academic, extracurricular and religious life. The school offers a wide variety of opportunities for us to take part in, such as public speaking, representative sport and orchestra. This is just a snippet of the many opportunities that the school offers to its students.

Students in Year 9 have been given the opportunity to take up new leadership roles which allows for student voice within the school. These include the appointment of Class Captains, SRC, The Waste Committee and other leadership roles that students can be involved with.

2019 marks the beginning of our new wellbeing program. This program merges relevant literacy, numeracy and wellbeing sessions together. Activities such as budgeting, email writing and goal setting are just some of the focuses. The wellbeing program targets relevant situations that we may encounter in our everyday life. During our first wellbeing session, we explored the different core values that were important and relevant to us.

As a year group, we established our core values for 2019. This meant looking at what we valued and committing to this for the year. The core values are a set of principles that holds us as a cohort accountable to each other throughout the year. Our core values for 2019 are:

  • Respect
  • Teamwork
  • Compassion
  • Responsibility
  • Commitment

We look forward to bringing you future updates as the year progresses and please view the video below:
