The school gathered together to honour the spirit of Anzac Day in the Morley Centre with a moving presentation, highlighting the courage and unwavering bravery that left an enduring legacy of sacrifice and service.
As per tradition, we remembered and honoured our Old Boys who sacrificed so much for us.
This year Flying Officer John McNamara was featured in the Old Boy tribute. John was killed in a flying battle over Norway in 1944, eighty years ago this year. He served with the Royal Australian AirForce in at least 29 air operation missions against the enemy, including the D-Day Landing.
John was awarded the Croix de Guerre (Cross of War) which is a military decoration from France. The Croix de Guerre may be awarded either as an individual award or as a unit award to those soldiers who distinguish themselves by acts of heroism involving combat with the enemy.
Student leaders and members of Cadets laid wreaths and saluted in a solemn and moving tribute. Lest we forget.
John McNamara
