Champagnat Feast Day

At school today, we celebrated Marcellin Champagnat's Feast day a little differently. The staff began the day early reflecting on St Marcellin's letter to Br Barthelemy "..The children will model themselves on you... What a wonderful and sublime occupation you have! You are constantly among the very people with whom Jesus Christ was so delighted to be..."
'Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs" Luke 18:16
Staff and students then moved into homerooms and followed along with a beautiful liturgy lead by our Solidarity Leaders and Prefects, reminding us how Mary and Marcellin said YES to God during times of turmoil, uncertainty and unprecedented challenges and how we must also say 'Yes' to God during these difficult times. We must be people who care for each other, our family, our global family, our planet and all of creation.
In a show of thanks, our SRC presented a gift to all the teachers, ancillary staff, IT staff and groundsman of the school, thanking them for saying 'yes' to God, for cultivating family spirit, for being present, for showing us a love of work, for exuberating simplicity, and always living in the way of Mary.  And finally, at the end of the day, after raising over $1600 for Marist Solidarity our boys were presented with a commemorative water bottle gift from the school.
Parramatta Marist Students and Staff are members of one large Marist family, and Champagnat day is a special day for us. It traditionally is a day to celebrate being Marist with our wider community. Instead, we have made a short clip to share with you what it means to be Marist.

Warmest Blessings to our Parramatta Marist Community
