HSC VET @ Marist

As I write to you, I would firstly like to introduce myself to those of you whom I have not yet met. My name is Mr Chris Craven and I started at Parramatta Marist at the beginning of this year. I bring with me 9 years of teaching experience which covers both TAS and VET. It is with this that I have recently been appointed the new Vocational Learning Coordinator. This new role is both an exciting new step for Marist and will bring a new dynamic to learning for the boys at Marist. My vision is to grow it to become a great pathway for all students who are keen to uncover their gifts and talents in a hands-on way through pathways that will tie in closely with careers and life after school options that they can encounter in a practical way. The options that are currently offered to students include Fitness, Business Services, Construction, Active Volunteering (Marist Missions), Hospitality, Information Digital Technology, VET Vocational Pathways, Sports Coaching and Financial Services.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Blake Collins in Year 11 who has recently completed his Certificate II in Animal Studies through Taronga Zoo with the ambition to pursue his dream to become an NP&W Ranger. We wish Blake the very best and I encourage all students to consider TVET as a new option for their future studies and look forward to communicating with you all in the coming years.

Last week our Year 11 Construction class attended CathWest Innovation College - McCarthy Campus to complete their Brick and Block Assessment. The boys did Parramatta Marist proud as they were enthusiastic and worked diligently learning new skills. They have an amazing trainer in Mr John Tesoriero who delivered the Units Of Competency with incredible skill and precision. The boys loved their time in this space.
