PMHS Youth Voice to the UN

Following on from our news item in December 2020 about some of our Year 10 students presenting to the United Nations for the Universal Periodic Review of Australia’s human rights record, the students have put together a series of recommendations on the topics of climate change, asylum seekers/refugees and domestic violence. The boys presented their findings via Zoom to the Permanent Missions in Geneva, Switzerland of twelve UN member countries. We are proud to advise that from these countries, 15 recommendations on these issues were formally made to the Australian government during the UN proceedings.

This has been an outstanding example of the voice of young people influencing diplomacy and human rights on a global stage.
