Art Gallery of New South Wales Excursion

On Friday the 11 of March, Years 10, 11 and 12 Visual Arts Classes visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales, to see the numerous artworks on display but primarily Art Express. It was a valuable experience to see the Band 6 Artworks chosen from a variety of schools that showcased different themes and mediums. This helped the Visual Arts Classes gain more insight into the quality and technical skills required to create an artwork worthy of a band 6 and also being chosen to be showcased at Art Express. One Artwork from Art Express that stood out to me was a Film called “Within Passing” by a student named Ivy Riddle. I felt a connection to this artwork as for my BOW (Body of Work) I am creating a film around the idea of mental health. The aim for my BOW is to create a film through the use of low amount of dialogue to no dialogue, which I feel will add to the depth and understanding by the audience.

It was an amazing experience to also listen to and discuss artworks with the students from Years 10 and 11 Visual Arts, to hear their different opinions regarding the various artworks we visited while at the Art Gallery. We all feel that it was a really worthwhile experience and we are all looking forward to next year's Artexpress.
