Business Management Work Placement Program - Year 11

A group of Year 11 VET Business & Financial Services students attended a fantastic business program conducted by AUSSIP from 4th April - 10th April 2019, as part of their workplacement. AUSSIP are the registered training organisation that co-ordinates our students work placement. The program, running for the first time, integrated various activities that exposed students to real businesses in the local Parramatta community. The students were engaged in learning about SWOT analysis, job interview techniques, grooming/presentation, communication skills, employment contracts, teamwork building, career pathways and real life problem solving of current business issues. The students were privileged to lead structured conversations with local business managers in the local area, to understand career pathways and business opportunities.

Ern Clift Public Speaking Competition

Well Done to Jack Melki in Year 9 who spoke at the annual Ern Clift Public Speaking Competition run by the Rotary Club of Parramatta. The topic for the evening was "Social media creates warped views of reality". It was a topic well spoken by all competitors which in the end were won by students from Northmead High. However, we can be very proud of Jack who spoke eloquently and with confidence and provided an entertaining speech in the Impromtu section.

Art - Veterans

In this project Homes for Heroes my group and I created a series of artworks that included the theme of a house. This project was very fun and exciting as we learnt new stuff every lesson. The fun varied from activities to pracs. Our idea was to add a house somewhere in our art. For example I added a cardboard house, Christian Dib also added a cardboard and Patrick Zakhour hand drew his house. In our artwork we added lots of tone, colour, shape and size. In my artwork I interpreted a sunset and a patch of grass. My group inspired me to use lots of colours and to mix colours. This project for me was more trial and error as I made a lot of mistakes but I have learnt from them.

F1 in Schools Teacher Challenge 2019

On Monday, 25 March, the F1 in Schools 2019/20 season was launched at Parramatta Marist in style. Mr Pauschmann (Principal) and Dr Bateman (Head of Maths and Science) raced their own aerodynamic masterpieces head to head down the 20 metre track, which ran down the middle of assembly. Dr Bateman’s “Flying Doctor” won the first heat, with an extremely fast reaction time. Despite this promising start, the doctor was ultimately undone by the green and gold blur of Mr Pauschmann’s “Mark One”, which took out the inaugural title with a lightning raw time of 1.206 seconds. Incredibly high standards have been set for our newly formed F1 teams to meet and exceed.
