These achievements testify to the rigorous academic preparation that Parramatta Marist provides - setting students up for success in academic and vocational arenas.

Celebrating the Teachers Behind Our Men of Marist

100 Years of the Old Boys’ Union // On Friday night, Old Boys from across the generations gathered in the Morley Centre to celebrate 100 years of the Parramatta Marist Old Boys’ Union. It was a great night of connection, with Old Boys from milestone year groups, former and current staff, and members of the wider Parramatta Marist community coming together to share stories, reconnect with old mates and celebrate the enduring spirit of the Union. A special congratulations to Frank Duff (OBU 1952), the oldest Old Boy in attendance, who was joined by his three sons also Old Boys. Frank Duff also has a grandson who is currently a student at Parramatta Marist. A wonderful example of the Marist connection continuing across generations. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Andrew Creagh Award for Outstanding Service to the Parramatta Marist Old Boys’ Union to Dominic Calabria (OBU 1991, Vice Captain), recognising his longstanding service, generosity and commitment to the Union and its Old Boys. We extend our sincere thanks to our major sponsors EdenYork and Romano & Sons, and minor sponsor Revelop, whose generous support helped make the Centenary Dinner possible. From the first Union event in 1926 to the celebrations of today, the Old Boys’ Union continues to strengthen the connection between Parramatta Marist, its Old Boys and future generations. #stillgoingforthwithstrength

Marist Spotlight // Mrs Betty Sarkis Mrs Sarkis teaches Catholic Studies and is also an active member of the Marist Association. Her connection to Parramatta Marist is deeply personal, with her son, Mark-Anthony, having attended the school from Years 7–12 before going on to become a pharmacist. Beyond the classroom, Mrs Sarkis is passionate about service. She regularly volunteers at Westmead Hospital, assists with sandwich-making initiatives for people experiencing homelessness and supports the Vinnies Van, often supporting students during these activities and volunteering during the school holidays. Inspired by Pope Leo’s call to be “one in Christ, united in mission”, Mrs Sarkis believes in contributing to the community by following Christ’s example of service and compassion. For Mrs Sarkis, the Marist community is more than a family. It is a community that stands together through both the good times and moments of loss, offering support when it is needed most. She speaks highly of the supportive and professional Religious Education team, who work together to foster a strong faith environment for our students. Thank you, Mrs Sarkis, for the care, compassion and commitment you continue to bring to Parramatta Marist. Your generosity and dedication make a lasting difference to our students and our wider community.
