NASA Competition

Congratulations to our combined team from Parramatta Marist High School and Catherine McAuley Westmead who have been ranked in the top 10 submissions for the Australian Space Design Competition.

This tremendous result sees them progressing as finalists for the 2018/19 Finals in Brisbane on the 19th/20th January 2019.

“After two terms of hard work, effort and sleepless nights, our work has officially been recognised and we have been rewarded for these efforts” - (Nathan Khoury Yr 9).

The combined McAuley and Marist team will compete with other qualifying teams for the title of ASDC Champions 2018/19 and the opportunity for them to represent Australia in July 2019 at the International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) Finals, at the Kennedy Space Centre (USA).

The ADSC Final is a residential competition held over a weekend at the University of Queensland (St Lucia campus) in Brisbane. The team will be partnered with another qualifying team and a number of special participants to form an ‘aerospace company’.

This company will be one of five competing companies vying to be the winning tenderer for the contract to build the Foundation Society’s next space settlement. The tender will be based on a Request for Tender released on the first day of the finals competition and will culminate in a 20 minute presentation followed by a 10 minute Q&A session.

This is an amazing opportunity for our young scientists from both schools and we wish them well.
